How do headings work?

Headings are used to highlight titles in sections of content for your site. In the drop down from the tool bar above the page or post that is being edited, you'll see options for Paragraph (which is default, Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3, Heading 4, Heading 5, and Heading 6. You are able to highlight any text within your post or page and choose one of these heading options.Headings are primarily used for SEO purposes, and not necessarily for aesthetic reasons. See this article from Yoast that explains how to properly use them.

How to adjust the post/page layout

You are able to choose the page layout you'd like to have across your site either to cover the entire site, or you can choose on a per page basis. The layout options you have available are:

Content/Sidebar - example
Sidebar/Content - example
Full Width Content - example

Choose for your entire site

In order to choose the layout option you'd like that covers the entirety of your site, you'll navigate to GENESIS > THEME SETTINGS. Once there you'll scroll down to the DEFAULT LAYOUT box where you'll see this:You can simply click on the option you'd like from these little screen icons.

Please note that in some of our themes we force a specific layout option on the home page occasionally for structural reasons. If you are making changes here that aren't affecting your home page or a custom page template on your site, it's because it's been forced to appear that way.

Choose per page, post, or product

If you'd like to have most of your site one layout but you'd like a specific page or post to appear differently, you can do that as well. A great example of this is you want all your blog posts to have the content/sidebar format, but you want a lot of your pages to be full width. You can see this displayed through our own site.To do this, navigate to PAGES/POSTS > EDIT the page/posts you'd like to change. Once there scroll down a little bit until you see the LAYOUT SETTINGS and you'll simply click the option you'd like from the little screen icons.

If you are not seeing this box when editing a page or post, scroll all the way to the top and select SCREEN OPTIONS in that tab at the very top right corner of your screen. It will drop down and you'll just be sure the LAYOUT SETTINGS option has a checkmark next to it. Now you'll have that option available.

Summertime Skin Care - My favorite Moisturizers

I was putting on my makeup this morning, and I got to thinking about how much I liked the two moisturizers I wear daily.Thought I'd share...In the summer I don't wear foundation. I mean, what's the point?I do however wear a moisturizer with sunscreen every day all year round and this summer I've taken to wearing a tinted moisturizer (also with sunscreen) on top of that.Over kill? I think not.

I am actually very happy with them both and I think they're happy on my face.

Summertime favorite moisterizers

I use Aveeno's Positively Radiant daily moisturizer with SPF 30 every day. This is one of a few broad-spectrum SPF moisturizers I use all year round. I like it because it's gentle on my skin. Has a higher sunscreen quotient, and it's not greasy and absorbs quickly.

In the summer I like to layer that with Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream tinted moisturizer which also has a broad-spectrum SPF of 15. I have used this alone, on summer evenings out and it is great. It does all the things a BB cream should do with out being greasy. The tint in the cream blends super great which I can sometimes have a hard time with since I'm so fair.

These are both great products that are super affordable and I think these last two I purchased using a coupon. You can find them at drugstores, and big boxed stores etc.

The Lords of Salem a Novel (Book Review)

I've always thought Rob Zombie was brilliant.I had high hopes for this novel. Had I known (at the time of purchase) this book was an adaptation from his screenplay I think it would've stayed on the shelf and I would've opted to watch the movie instead.I'd not read a horror novel in quite some time, and I figured Rob Zombie would be a good bet. All of the elements were there for it to be awesome. Historical fiction, a book opening in Salem in the 1600's with witch hunters and witches. Some über scary Satanic rituals and later dark figures lurking in empty apartments...I immediately liked the protagonist. She was a bit damaged, but on a path I felt to redeem herself.I got half way through this book and finally decided, I just couldn't read anymore. Reading it had become a chore and I wasn't enjoying it. It's execution was poor. I could never loose myself in the pages. I get the feeling that the second author listed (B.K. Evenson) must have been the one to slap this all together from Zombie's screenplay and notes or something. There was no real character or story development, and not in any good minimalistic way; it was just a lot of gore, and other crap that filled the pages.I wanted to be afraid to turn the page, and I was, but for all the wrong reasons.Bummer.

Belluno, Italy

This weekend we visited Belluno, located in the Veneto region of Northern Italy. It is a charming, picturesque city nestled in the Dolomite mountain region about 100 kilometers north of Venice. As in most places in Italy, every where you turn you see history, but here it's palatable. From the frescoes that span the ceilings above the walkways where shops and restaurants now lay, to the ruins of a castle dated to the 1500's.On the day we went a little market was taking place and we've become quite fond of these visiting markets because you can sometimes discover things you wouldn't normally find in northern Italy, like Mexican food and really good cannolis.
